Meet Our Team
Mandi Johnson, RVT, CVPM
Mandi is a Registered Veterinary Technician and a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager living in Sugar Grove, North Carolina. She graduated from Central Carolina Community College in 2004, with an A. A. S. degree in veterinary medical technology. Mandi began her career in private practice at the age of 15 and realized that veterinary medicine was where she wanted to be. She also received her certificate in Veterinary Management from St. Petersburg College in 2013.
Soon after graduating from CCCC she went from general practice to emergency medicine. Emergency medicine is where Mandi decided that she wanted to be, until she got thrown into the business part of veterinary medicine. She helped create the general practice and pet lodging portion of her clinic and just finished setting up the new building that houses both of them. She is the hospital administrator to Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country, Pet Care Clinic of the High Country, and Ridge Runner Pet Lodging.
Mandi received the honor of Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in 2018.
Mandi also sat on the NC Board of Veterinary Technicians in 2018.
Mandi is married with two sons. She has two cats, “Wittn” and “Pig”. One dog, her oldest son, “Obi”, that she has had since her days at CCCC. She loves to teach others about the business ins and outs of veterinary medicine. When she is not working she loves to spend time with her family, playing video games, fishing at the beach and watching her boys play sports.

Kelly Allen, RVT
Kelly is a 2006 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with an Associates of Applied Science in Veterinary Medical Technology. She is also graduated from NCSU in 2008 with a BS in Animal Science and a minor in Agriculture Business Management. Kelly joined the Animal Emergency & Pet Care Clinic team in 2010 as a Registered Veterinary Technician. In her spare time you'll find her spending time with her husband, daughter, Australian Shepherds, and horse back riding.
Client Services Representatives
Clarissa is a current student at Appalachian State University majoring in chemistry with a concentration in forensic science and a minor in criminal justice. She will graduate in May 2019 and will continue working at the Emergency Clinic afterwards. Clarissa also participates in research at Appstate where she tests the acid content of biodiesel fuels made from used cooking oil utilizing nano-reactors. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, and hands-on hobbies such as cross-stitching.
Savanna Burk Woody
Savanna Burk Woody, or better known as SavAnimal, is from Atlanta, Georgia and has lived in Boone for six years. She is a graduate of Caldwell Community College. SavAnimal loves to cross stitch and be outdoors with her three dogs, Magnolia, Rosie, & Duke Silver. She is an animal enthusiast and aspiring veterinary technician.

Amanda Ready, BS, RVT
Amanda is a Mississippi native that moved to Boone in the summer of 2018. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medical Technology from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Amanda’s professional interests include anesthesiology, pain management, and biomedical research. Her current “count” of species anesthetized as a technician is 14, of which she is very proud. In her personal life, Amanda enjoys roller skating, hiking, having conversations with cats, eating pizza, watching sci-fi movies, and using the Oxford Comma.
April is currently a second-year masters student in the Geography and Planning Department at Appalachian State University. Also an undergraduate alumni from App that majored in Biology with a double minor in Chemistry and Geography. She was born and raised in downtown Raleigh, NC. April began working in the veterinary field at the Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country in 2015. As a master's student, she studies tree-ring science with her thesis focus on interactions between red-cockaded woodpeckers and longleaf pine. Whenever April does have free time, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking with her 4 dogs (Coda, Ada, Rue, and Kiwé), playing with her cat, Alice, who thinks she's a dog, and being outside whenever possible.
Casie Hill, BS, RVT, VTE (ECC), CCRP
Casie received her BS in Biology at West Chester University in Pennsylvania in 2003. She then went on and received her degree in Veterinary Technology from Harcum College in 2006. She has been a certified/registered technician since 2006. She moved to North Carolina in 2008 and started at the Animal Emergency Clinic in 2010. She initially worked overnights, but is now the weekend daytime supervisor. She received her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Emergency and Critical Care in 2013 and was recertified in 2018. She also became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner in 2016. She lives in the Boone area with her husband, son, and 10 animals. She is currently working on her Pharmacy degree at Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy at East Tennessee State University. She has no hobbies or extracurricular activities because she has no spare time. She works full-time, goes to school full-time, and is a mom and wife full-time. Wash, rinse repeat.
Cassidy is a 2018 graduate of Appalachian State University with a degree in Cellular/Molecular Biology with plans to attend vet school in the near future. She has been in the veterinary field for almost 5 years, 2 of which have been with AEPCC. She enjoys being a technician in emergency medicine and is excited to see what other interests she finds in her veterinary school endeavors. Outside of work, she is heavily involved in synthetic chemistry research that focuses on developing compounds to be used in medicinal settings. She also enjoys hiking, lazy river tubing, and spending time with family and friends.
Cheyenne was born and raised in Boone, NC. She is a recent graduate from Auburn University with a bachelors degree in Animals Sciences. Cheyenne moved back home to be closer to family and for her love of the mountains. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with family and her two dogs Loki and Petey.
Emily Butts graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Wildlife Rehabilitation. She has worked in the veterinary field since 2010 and hopes to do so for the foreseeable future. Emily lives with her other half, Jonathan, in Banner Elk, NC. Together they take care of their 4 dogs, Gabriel, Jibblets, Meri, and Zeus, and their cat, Kieran, as well as their beta fish B.B. Emily enjoys nature, art, music, dancing, and taking care of animals.
LeAnn is originally from Maryland and moved to the Boone area in 2015. She’s always loved working with pets, and grew up with lots of dogs always in the house. LeAnn started out volunteering at the local humane society before getting her first kennel job in NC. From there she moved into Vet Assisting. In her spare time she enjoys being with her own cats and dogs, going on hikes and reading books, while attending school part time.
Marie Zielaskowski, RVT
Marie is a 2006 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with an Associate of Science in Veterinary Medical Technology. After 13 years working as an RVT, she’s still as passionate as day one. Growing up on a farm with both large and small animals, Marie knew from a young age this would be her dream job. She is blessed with an amazing family. When Marie is not working, she is in mom mode, chasing two kids with her husband of 7 years. Marie truly believes if you pick a job you love you'll never work a day in your life.
